Review : Kingdomino

PRESENTATION

Kingdomino is the game created by Bruno Cathala (Five tribes, 7 Wonders Duel, Mr. Jack...) in 2016 and published by Blue Orange. For 2-4 Players with a game time of 20 minutes. The player have to buil a five by five kingdom of oversized domino tiles.

Kingdomino wins the 2017 Spiel Des Jahres for Best Game of the Year.

GAMEPLAY

The players choose domino to place them in their Kingdom. You can choose the tile with the most crown but you will be the last to choose next turn ! Choosing the worst tile ensures you the first choice next turn.

When there are no more tiles, the property (each tiles with the same colors next each others) is scored on how big it is multiplied by the number of crowns on it. The player with most points in his kingdom wins. 

MY POINT OF VIEW

Those who are looking for an expert game, scroll my blog for an other game because Kingdomino is not a complexe game. It is a funny and light game where you don’t really think a lot. Playing at two is really better because you do a kingdom of 7x7 and it is more complexe (but really light). If you don’t want to start a game of 3 hours and have fun Kingdomino is your game. It has a real replayability and there are the expansion « Age of Giant » and the biggest « Queendomino » that is like Kingdomino but with some new mechanics like the Queen who can come in your kingdom and a Dragon…
